HE’S BACK!!!!!! Gimli the Snowy Owl is dressed a HE’S BACK!!!!!! Gimli the Snowy Owl is dressed and ready to fly!

Due to the heat in the summer our handsome Gimli gets the summer months off and basically gets ALL for food so he can moult his beautiful feathers and rest. But today was the day that he has to come back to work, so it’s dressing day. New equipment, trimmed beak and talons and a weigh in.
Over the summer we do keep Gimli fairly well manned meaning we ask him to feed on the fist and being around people so he comes back to work so so fast. Watch to the end to see what he was up to the next day!!!!

Come and pop into the centre to see Gimli or grab yourself an Owl handling experience and come and fly him yourself!!!

The local Peregrines from Bracknell often soar ove The local Peregrines from Bracknell often soar over the centre but today he came nice and low which sent Maverick into a flirty territorial state!!!! Love seeing these guys.
Maverick has started the process of coming back into work so should be flying as part of the sessions very soon.
Thank you to Dan and Olivia for the footage, I was shouting down the radio that I didn’t have my phone!!!! #peregrinefalcon #bracknellperegrines #britishwildlife #bracknell

Super happy that Arya our Peregrine x Lanner falco Super happy that Arya our Peregrine x Lanner falcon is coming back into work. This is us just sitting in the sunshine with some food, a process know as manning, which even experienced birds need to go back through when coming out of moult. Just a few weeks and she will be back in the air.

Many birds of prey have something called a supraor Many birds of prey have something called a supraorbital ridge above their eyes, aka. a big grumpy eyebrow.

This ridge has nothing to do with making them look more murderous or angry; it is simply a built in sun visor to keep the sun out of their eyes so that they can hunt in bright conditions.

I just love how you could see the shade being cast onto Milo's eyes from his supraorbital ridge this morning as he went out flying 😍 amazing

Thank you Stuart for our first Amazon Wishlist pre Thank you Stuart for our first Amazon Wishlist presents. We are so very grateful xxx.
Its only taken 16 years of people telling me we sh Its only taken 16 years of people telling me we should!! So I have! Introducing our Amazon wish list. For those that know us we dislike asking for help but know that people love to support the centre, but money comes with HMRC shaped red tape so we are always grateful for gifts of things we use daily.

This list included things that we use all the time such as sponges and disinfectant, but also a few cheeky bits like toys for Elvis and a few higher priced items that we are trying to save for. Thank you for even taking the time to look.
