In today’s era of modern technology, it is often the case many children are unable to identify important aspects of their surrounding environment. In a study of 217 seven to 16 year olds, half of all the 7 year olds failed to recognise the blackbird while none could identify the Kestrel.
Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre visits schools based in and around Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Our aim is to open the eyes and minds of young people to the wonderful world of Birds of Prey and Animals. Encouraging children to see and care about the wildlife that is often found on their doorstep and to help learn about and conserve those that are not. We believe that a hands on learning approach is best with the aim to allow children a once in a life time chance to see and often handle some of natures truly stunning creations.
Feathers and Fur brings a whole new dimension to classroom teaching. Not only does an educational talk from Feathers and Fur offer benefits to a wide range of Science subjects, but the experience can be used to cover many other important key stage topics such as descriptive writing, literacy, communication, citizenship, art and number skills.
Issues such as conservation or species adaption’s be tailored to Key Stage and age groups. Our fun, hands on and energetic style ensures that each child will not only enjoy learning but will take away a memory that may stay with them throughout life.
Feathers and Fur offer an education package that is flexible to your classroom needs whether it’s simply a fun addition to a busy term or a key learning week with specific points of interest. Our team of presenters are enthusiastic, fun and confident in their presentation style and are all fully DBS checked and insured under the NFU. Feathers and Fur also holds a Countryside Educational Visit Accreditation Scheme qualification.
