Still working bringing Charlie back into work. She is stubborn as a rock! At 15 years she knows what she is supposed to do she just likes to do it in her time!!!! We managed 6 flights before everything else but me was exciting!!! Grass, leaf, odd shaped cloud!!! Hehehehe

Today Maverick wanted to fly like a Harris Hawk and stick to some glove work. Mainly because there were 3 pesky Red Kites above us and they always pester him. Love how amazing he looks in slow motion too.

The third Friday of May is Endangered Species Day,

The third Friday of May is Endangered Species Day, and here at Feathers and Fur Falconry, one of our team really does stand out on this day, and that is Gimli the Snowy Owl. The continuing decline of these epic birds was recognised recently at the COP15 summit and more importantly that Sweden has just declared the Snowy Owl extinct as a breeding bird, meaning it has failed to breed there in the last decade.

Ourselves in the UK haven’t had a breeding pair since 1975 where they were last recorded on Fetlar, in the Shetlands.

With Global warming being the stand out reason for the Snowy Owls decline meaning a vast shrinking of the tundra habitat and a loss of their main food source, Lemmings! Followed closely by lots of human related factors, breeding ground disturbance from development, power line electrocutions, poisoning from rodenticide the list goes on and on.

If you want to learn more about Snowy Owls or just owls in general please do come along and join us on one of our handling sessions. Gimli is part of our winter team but we have Barn Owls, Long Eared Owls, Eagle Owls, Tawny Owls and Little Owl all ready and waiting to meet you on our Hands on Experiences with prices starting from just £45.

One of my favourite activities is making the centr

One of my favourite activities is making the centre look beautiful, with plants that attract wildlife, smell stunning, (lots of herbs to eat too!) and look amazing. We don’t have a gardener so it’s all done ourselves but last year someone said to me that it was like visiting birds in a beautiful garden and honestly this made my day. I can’t wait to see how the baskets bloom this year.
All our flowers have come from @garden4seasonsltd our lovely neighbours. Small business supporting each other x

If you want to see for your self what people have been reviewing please do pop in to our award winning centre. Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre is open to the general public and is home to a beautiful collection of Hawks, Owls and Falcons. With lots of educational information about Birds of Prey the centre is a brilliant place to visit for all ages. Based within Moss End Garden Village, the centre has plenty of parking, a gift shop and cafe’s on site along with lots of other fabulous shops to visit.

We are open, Tuesday - Saturdays 10am - 5pm and Sundays 10am - 4pm and Bank Holiday Mondays.
Entrance costs are :

Children - £2
Concessions - £3

No need to book to come and look around and your ticket allows for all day entrance meaning you can head off to visit other places at moss end and then pop back to see your favourite bird.

16years!!! So this year we haven’t posted many birthdays but this chap is special, he has been with Feathers and Fur Falconry almost from the very beginning. Ash our handsome Tawny Owl is the kindest of souls and a true gentleman. He has visited so many schools, care homes and been part of almost every owl handling session. We love you dearly, and hope you enjoyed your mouse dinner !!!! @tawnyowl
