Finally got to the amazing @lostcauldron owned by Finally got to the amazing @lostcauldron owned by our beautiful friend @cherrywallis. We met cherry what she came to do the amazing photo 3 with the very talented @lindablacker and Gimli and she has supported us ever since. Infact I can honestly say that without the help of Cherry and her amazing magical family I don’t think we would have raised the funds to move the centre as well as we did. I will always be so so grateful to this amazing lady and in awe of all that she achieves. If you are ever in the midlands please do go and visit her amazing shop.
Common Buzzards are an essential part of the Briti Common Buzzards are an essential part of the British countryside but many people struggle to identify one. This is hardly surprising as in the 1960's and 70's their population plummeted and you had to be incredibly lucky to see one. They have now clawed their way back to become the UK's most common bird of prey! Buzzards are resilient, stubborn, adaptable and absolutely beautiful. 1. Buzzard numbers have quadrupled since 1970! Less than 100 years ago they were a rare sight in our skies mostly due to direct persecution and pesticide use but there were many, many more factors involved and threats they faced. Thanks to stricter pesticide control, less persecution and introducing legal protection their numbers have bounced back and they are now the UK's most common and widespread bird of prey. 2. Buzzards are opportunistic predators (a trait which may have aided their comeback) and will take a variety of prey from rabbits and voles to lizards and earthworms. They also rely heavily on scavenging for roadkill and other carrion and can often be seen on fence posts along the motorway waiting for our cars to do the hard work for them! 3. It's hard to describe a Buzzard without using the word chunky! They are heavy set birds with wide chests, and broad wings and a broad tail to help them soar effortlessly on warm thermals. They often soar higher than the Red Kites so in areas where Red Kites are numerous we sometimes just don't notice that the Buzzards are there too! This behaviour and body shape earned them the nickname 'tourist eagle' in Scotland but they are much, much smaller than the rare Golden Eagle people are usually searching for. Their chunky legs and fluffy trousers can be clearly seen when they come down to the ground hunting for earthworms. Absolutely amazing day had in Yorkshire at the @na Absolutely amazing day had in Yorkshire at the @nationalcentreforbirdsofprey on their Zoo Standards course covering the new updates coming into force next year. Even though it’s additional paperwork I personally feel that as a public centre the standards should simply be a starter point for the work and dedication that you put into these amazing birds care and welfare. Was wonderful to spend the day listening to a man as passionate about birds as Charlie Heap with lots of other amazing centre owners. @screech_owl_sanctuary @milletsfalconry @baytree_owls

Come experience the magic of Owls and create memories to last a lifetime with Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre’s Educational Owl Hour. Specially aimed at those aged 6yrs - 10yrs? The 1 Hour Educational Owl Hour allows you to get to know all of our owls here at the centre, a fabulous chance to look and touch real owl feathers, learn how they hunt and where they live, then get hands on with pellet dissection to see what was for dinner (grown ups can join in here too) and then you can hold one of our beautiful owls and pose for photos. All this for just £20. This 1 hour session included 🦉1 supervising adult included. 🦉All weather room if we have wet weather 🦉Hands on - you get to meet and hold one of our owls 🦉Great opportunity for photos 🦉Entrance to the centre included in the price Spaces go quickly, so please head over to www.feathersandfur.co.uk (link in bio) to book your session. If you're looking for something for the whole family then check out our Family Falconry Experience or the 2 Hour Session. All are available over the summer holidays. Please dont forget that you can also simply visit our award winning centre. Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre is open to the general public and is home to a beautiful collection of Hawks, Owls and Falcons. With lots of educational information about Birds of Prey the centre is a brilliant place to visit for all ages. Based within Moss End Garden Village, the centre has plenty of parking, a gift shop and cafe’s on site along with lots of other fabulous shops to visit. We are open, Tuesday - Saturdays 10am - 5pm and Sundays 10am - 4pm and Bank Holiday Mondays and Mondays in the school holidays. Entrance costs are : Adults - £4 Children - £2 Concessions - £3 No need to book to come and look around and your ticket allows for all day entrance meaning you can head off to visit other places at moss end and then pop back to see your favourite bird.
