CENTRE CLOSED 30th JULY

CENTRE CLOSED 30th of JULY 2024 – Please note that Feathers and Fur Falconry Centre will be closed on Tuesday the 30th of July for our scheduled zoo inspection. We will reopen on Wednesday the 31st of July from 10am – 5pm. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

This is the second half of a rouse (or roust), the first is the main body, lifting and shaking all the feathers to move them back into place and to remove any dust. Plus it just feels really good!!! Second is the head and tail. Mouse does a magnificent rouse don’t you agree? #Feathers #rouse #britishwildlife

What do we do with the birds water when it freezes What do we do with the birds water when it freezes? We take off the ice, remove it from the aviary and top up their water. Every day our birds are given fresh clean water even if we have to get chilly fingers!!! Hehe Thank you @annbr1965 for this fabulous picture !!

LET'S PLAY!! Given the very cold weather we have h LET'S PLAY!! Given the very cold weather we have had this week I thought it would be fun to play Spot the Snowy Owl!!!!! Have a guess at the grid number you think Gimli is hiding in and I will reveal tomorrow!!! At the same time please marvel at just how fabulous this camouflage is, designed to vanish into the snow whilst on nests the girls are more strongly marked with dark spots where as the boys gradually get whiter and whiter as they age. Fun Fact - Hedwig is a girl in the Harry Potter books but in the movies is played by a male who is all white. #snowyowls #spottheball #camouflagechallenge
