Love Supporting Small Business? Well so do we and in our wonderful Dawns Gift Shop we stock a number of locally produced and small business products and over the new few months we are going to be show casing and giving these guys a shout out.

This month is the fabulous Ellwood Parker a very talented artist who has bought to life some amazing characters with joy and a little bit of humour (check out her pigeon!!). We stock her beautiful cards, A4 pictures, notelets, magnets. badges and bookmarks featuring our favourite birds, Humpy the Osprey, Peeps the Tawny Owl, Frost Ford the Little Owl and Feathers the Barn Owl. Does it really matter??? Its just a certificate right?

Wrong, winning an award as a small business who work 7 days a week to ensure the highest standard of care to our birds, presenting the best centre we can by keeping it clean, tidy and smart, managing habitats for wildlife whilst balancing this with a lovely place for visitors to fly your birds, sacrificing time and rest to ensure emails are answered, paper work is done and that memories are made for families that hopefully you will leave their time with you having experienced joy and a love for the environment and all that lives in it. Acknowledgement of all this and more for our wonderful team and birds, thats what winning a certificate means.

I am super excited to tell you that we have an ama

I am super excited to tell you that we have an amazing photography session with London Camera Exchange and Sony planned for Friday 26th April. There are 3 sessions throughout the day. Booking is essential.

Its a great opportunity to try out the range of Sony equipment and to learn how to take better photos of birds of prey.

Sony representatives will be there to help setup your Sony cameras and Sony Ambassador Terry Donnally will also be here to help you compose your photos.

London Camera Exchange will also be here to help with cameras and they will have some great offers on Sony equipment.

You don't even need to bring a camera as you can borrow one for the session. You can bring your own Sony mirrorless equipment and try out some Sony mirrorless lenses if you do not own a telephoto lens.

This week Olivia was lucky enough to spot some bab

This week Olivia was lucky enough to spot some baby Tawny Owls in her local woodland while on a dog walk! These little fluffy fledglings are doing something known as 'branching'.

Tawny Owls come out of the nest very young and are unable to fly so to gain strength they hop amongst the tree branches. This means that they sometimes end up on the ground but they will use their curved, sharp talons to climb back up the tree trunk so if you find a young owl on the ground always check the species first! If a baby Barn Owl is on the floor it needs help; if it's a Tawny Owl you can just pick it up and place it back in the tree! Mum will be looking out for them.

Spring is in full swing so make sure you're looking up at the trees when out for a walk!

Happy 6th Birthday to our gorgeous female Harris Hawk, Rossi.

The Queen of the power pose, Rossi is incredibly striking with her fierce eyebrows, huge feet and incredible strength... but she is also a little sweetheart! Rossi is very funny and enjoys entertaining people with her playful antics and disgusting people with her awful table manners! She is a very special girl, being lucky to have survived getting stuck in her eggshell as a baby and now makes a regular appearance in our Half Day Bird of Prey Sessions.

Happy 8th Birthday to our male Harris Hawk, Milo!

Milo is our cheeky boy and loves to play games with the volunteers and show off in our experience sessions. He can be a bit nervous of silly things like wheels and is our smallest Harris Hawk so whilst he is not actually the youngest, he tends to be known as the baby of the group. If you've ever had your birthday party here you've probably met Milo!

Happy Birthday to our stunning female European Eag

Happy Birthday to our stunning female European Eagle Owl, Billie-Jean!! It's a big one! 30 years old!!

Billie-Jean is one of the original Feathers and Fur birds and has been with Sadie for over 15 years! She is by far our biggest bird with her six foot wingspan but is a gentle lady who loves to walk everywhere. You can't spot her at the centre at the moment because she is up in her nest box incubating a couple of eggs (no babies on the way though!) but you might hear her clucking from up above the door.
